A Litany for the Hopeless

Lamentations 3:19-24 (the Message)

"I'll never forget the trouble, the utter lost-ness, the feeling of hitting the bottom.  But there's one thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:
God's loyal love couldn't have run out, his merciful love couldn't have dried up.  They're created new every morning.  How great your faithfulness!  I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over).  He's all I've got."

Father, we ask for seeds of faith in uncertainty.  We ask for refuge and safety in the midst of billowing disarray.

Great is Your faithfulness!

We ask for a clear word in the clamour of chaos.  And Hope.  Lord, we cling onto this Hope:

Great is Your faithfulness!

Your mercies are new every morning.  So God, according to Your promise, draw near.  Restore us.  Pour into us.  Shelter us.  Save us.

Great is Your faithfulness!

Father, be water for those who are dry.  Strength for those who have been run off their feet.

Great is Your faithfulness!

Here, in the stillness of the day or in the current of our lives.  In the swirl of great need or more-than enough, we cry out to you, God.  Lord, You are our portion and our Salvation.

Great is Your faithfulness!
