I've had this hymn in my head for awhile. As much as I'm not a fan of the superfluous verses (google it, oh you'll find them), some of the verses are quite fitting for this season. I took the liberty to change a word or two (in the 3rd verse - from 'race' to 'world'). I love the chant-like nature of the melody and how each verse concludes with a declarative voice of gratitude.

For The Beauty of the Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the wonder of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For Thyself, best gift divine,
To our world so freely given,
For the great, great love of Thine,
Peace on earth, and joy in heaven:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

Really nice....
Like redgirl, I was blog hopping & landed here as well. Enjoyed this post - & saw on your sidebar that you've read (are reading) A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. I recently read that same book & posted on it a while back. I want to check out another book you have listed: Voicing Creations Praise. Sounds interesting.
